7 January, 2025

KOTA KINABALU: More than 200 students from Private Institutions of Higher Learning (IPTS) and Public Institutions of Higher Learning (IPTA) in and around Kota Kinabalu took part in the Malaysia Madani Understanding Discourse Programme at the University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) campus in Sembulan on Monday.

The half-day programme was jointly organised by the Islamic Welfare Body of the Sabah Foundation Group and YADIM in collaboration with the University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) and the Sabah Foundation Technology College (KTYS).

In his keynote address, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (PMD) Senator Dr. Zulkifli Hassan shed light on Malaysia Madani, explaining the country's current position and aspirations in addressing various domestic and global challenges.

He emphasized that Malaysia Madani is a conceptual idea inspired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Anwar Ibrahim, which requires collective support from the people of this country.

Zulkhairi Ismail, Chief Coordinator of the Sabah Foundation Group Administration Zone, noted that the discourse approach implemented through the programme brings students closer to the methods of governing the nation with the madani concept in real-time.

"Through Senator Dr. Zulkifli Hasan's insights, this opens up new avenues for student involvement beyond formal classroom learning," he said.

Meanwhile, Datuk Dr. Rafiq Idris, Vice Chancellor of UCSF, stated that Dr. Zulkifli provided a clear explanation of Malaysia Madani and its impact on the economy, society, and national administration.

"I believe that if Malaysia Madani can be fully implemented, it has the potential to create a prosperous economy and society that is inclusive, welfare-oriented, and has strong governance," he said.

Also present at the event were Mohd Tabi'in Sahri, Director of YADIM Sabah; a representative from YAPEIM; Salim Japaran, representative from BAKIYS; and leaders and members from various Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).
