KOTA KINABALU: A new town is set to be established in Kota Kinabatangan, Kinabatangan.
The Kinabatangan District Council and Sunmow Construction Sdn. Bhd. have signed a Joint Venture Agreement for the New Seri Milian Mixed Development at a ceremony held at Wisma Innoprise here yesterday (November 15).
This joint venture involves an area of 157.48 acres.
The Deputy Chief Minister II and Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, who witnessed the signing ceremony, expressed hope that the proposed development will bring benefits to the people, particularly in the Kinabatangan district.
It is anticipated that this development will serve as a new growth center in the well-planned Kinabatangan district and enhance property values in the surrounding area.
Moreover, this development is expected to act as a catalyst for local economic growth by providing new infrastructure, increasing job opportunities, and ultimately improving income levels and the economic status of the local community.
“I have been informed that in efforts to realise this proposed joint venture, several rounds of meetings and discussions were held at the district level, as well as with the Ministry, involving the District Council, District Office, other government agencies, and stakeholders in the Kinabatangan district.
“I would like to congratulate and commend all of you for your efforts that have borne fruit. Although this is just the beginning, it is something very meaningful, and I am confident that everyone involved will continue to pay attention to the developments that are expected to lead to progress and rapid growth in the Kinabatangan district,” he said.
He also hopes that this marks a starting point for benefits that the entire community can reap in the Kinabatangan district.
Also present were Assistant Ministers of Local Government and Housing I and II, Datuk Isnin Aliasnih and Datuk Mohd Hamsan Awang Supain; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Datuk Dr. Jamili Nais; and Deputy Permanent Secretary I, Stanley Chong.
