KUALA LUMPUR: Top Glove Corporation Bhd and Universiti Malaya proudly announce the official opening of the Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai Medical Museum at the Faculty of Medicine, made possible by a generous RM2 million donation from Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai, Founder and Executive Chairman of Top Glove, and a distinguished alumnus of Universiti Malaya.
Also known as Muzium Perubatan Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai, the newly transformed museum combines two historic entities—the Anatomy Resource Centre and the Pathology Museum—into a state-of-the-art educational hub. With one of the nation’s most extensive collections of human specimens, along with interactive exhibits and high-tech installations, the museum effectively bridges the gap between traditional medical education and future-focused learning.
Tan Sri Datuk Ter Leong Yap, from Universiti Malaya’s Board of Directors, officiated the museum’s opening, recently.
He emphasised the significance of this initiative in enhancing medical education and community engagement. His remarks highlighted the collaborative efforts between alumni and the university to foster an environment that supports innovative learning and research in healthcare.
Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to give back to his alma mater, “I am deeply honoured to contribute to this meaningful project at Universiti Malaya."
He said as a UM alumnus, if Universiti Malaya, he wanted to give back to an institution that shaped his youth and career.
"I am passionate about lifelong learning and advancing healthcare, and I hope this museum will inspire future healthcare professionals while promoting health literacy and appreciation for medical practices among the public."
Universiti Malaya’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Noor Azuan Abu Osman, also expressed his heartfelt gratitude and pride in the establishment of the new medical museum.
“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Tan Sri Dr. Lim for his extraordinary generosity, which will significantly enhance our Faculty of Medicine’s capacity to educate Malaysia’s current and future healthcare leaders."
"This medical museum represents a pivotal step in advancing Universiti Malaya’s vision of becoming a global leader in the field of medicine. More than just a repository of knowledge, the museum stands as a testament to the history, progress, and transformative impact of medical science and healthcare.”
He added, “By opening its doors to the public, the museum bridges the gap between academia and the community. Engagement with the wider community will enrich medical education and serve as a catalyst for meaningful research initiatives.”
Universiti Malaya’s Faculty of Medicine Dean, Professor Dato’ Dr. Yang Faridah Abdul Aziz, agreed saying. “I am so proud to have this museum at the Universiti Malaya’s Faculty of Medicine. This museum is in its own league, unlike any other in the country. It uniquely integrates medicine, culture, art, and history to inspire transformative shifts in healthcare education and research."

The Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai Medical Museum is now open to the public, featuring interactive exhibits that also include a wall dedicated to Tan Sri Dr. Lim and his health philosophies.
The museum aims to foster partnerships with educational and community organisations while providing an enriching experience on the human body, evolving diseases, medical practices, and the evolution of healthcare.
