Bank Rakyat offers a moratorium of up to six months for flood victims in Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR: In an effort to ease the burden of flood victims in Sabah, Bank Rakyat is offering special assistance that includes a moratorium facility of up to six months.


The Chief Executive Officer of Bank Rakyat, Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Hanis Osman, said this assistance is open to individual customers and businesses affected in the four flood-affected districts of Penampang, Putatan, Tuaran, and Tamparuli.


He explained that Bank Rakyat is compelled to reduce the burdens and difficulties faced by its customers and hopes that this moratorium facility will provide relief to those affected.


"The proactive steps taken by Bank Rakyat are aligned with the values of compassion and benevolence in the concept of 'Malaysia Madani,' aimed at reducing the financial burdens and commitments borne by customers in this challenging time.


"Therefore, customers facing difficulties in making financing installment payments for the products they have subscribed to can apply for this moratorium assistance. This includes products such as Personal Financing-i, Home Financing-i, Vehicle Financing-i, Vehicle Hire Purchase-i, Education Financing-i, Micro Financing-i, and Pawn Financing-i," he said in a statement today.


He added that affected customers can apply via email at bantuanbanjir@bankrakyat.com.my, providing their full name, identification number, affected address, mobile phone number for contact, type of financing, and a copy of a utility bill confirming the customer's address.


"Business customers can also visit the nearby Business Banking Center (BBC) for assistance."
