Basic contractor course and TEKUN Financing briefing

KOTA KINABALU: The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO), in collaboration with PEB Training and Consultancy, organised a Basic Contractor Course and TEKUN Financing Briefing.
The event wasofficially launched today by UPKO Vice President, Datuk Gilbert Sham.
This programme aimed to provide exposure to new entrepreneurs and contractors regarding the contractor registration procedures, compliance with industry regulations, and access to financing opportunities to grow their businesses.
The course was conducted by Roger Tiam, Director and keynote speaker from PEB Training and Consultancy, who shared essential guidelines on the contractor registration process, project management, and strategies for securing tenders.
In his speech, Datuk Gilbert Sham emphasised the importance of developing more competitive local contractors and enhancing their participation in the construction and services sectors.
“This programme not only helps participants understand the basics of contracting but also provides them with opportunities to access financing that can be a catalyst for business growth,” he said.
In addition to the course sessions, participants were also given a special briefing on the TEKUN National financing scheme, which offers financial assistance to small and medium-sized entrepreneurs to start and expand their businesses.
UPKO and PEB Training and Consultancy remain committed to supporting the economic development of the local community through various initiatives and training programmes aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of local entrepreneurs and contractors.
