Bridges repaired through gotong-royong

PENAMPANG: A gotong royong, or community work, took place in Kg Sarayo Sarapung, here, focusing on the repair of two small bridges that had suffered damage from recent flooding.

The initiative was spearheaded by Belly Stephen, the Parliamentary Relations Officer for Penampang, who effectively organised the effort. He was joined by about 20 volunteers from the local community, representing a diverse age group, from energetic youth to experienced elders.

In addition to the physical repairs, women from the village came together to prepare food and drinks for the participants, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and unity among the volunteers.

This community effort was made possible through the generous contribution of Datuk Ewon Benedick, the Member of Parliament for Penampang, demonstrating his commitment to the welfare of the local community.
