Cancer Awareness Programme benefitted residents of Kampung Sumbilingon

KOTA BELUD: A cancer awareness programme was held at the Open Hall of Kampung Sumbilingon, Kota Belud, today.
This programm was jointly organised by the Sabah Cancer Prevention Association (PPKS) and the Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM) of the N11 Kadamaian Assembly Service Center, aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of cancer prevention and early detection.
The programme featured several key activities, including health screenings, cervical cancer screenings, lectures on cancer, and registration for subsidised mammograms.
All these activities aimed to foster public awareness of the critical role early detection plays in saving lives.
The Community Development Officer (CDO), Juin Kolod, represented Datuk Ewon Benedick, the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives and Kadamaian to officiate the programme.
In his speech, he emphasised that "Prevention is better than cure. Early detection of cancer saves lives," while encouraging local residents to participate in the programme for the collective well-being.
The programme received positive response from the residents of Kampung Sumbilingon and surrounding areas. The activities provided are expected to help raise awareness and offer the community opportunities for free health screenings.
