Cash credit for 10 million people announced

KUALA LUMPUR: Registration for the eMADANI Programme starts on Monday, December 4, 2023 where a total of 10 million eligible adult citizens, including the B40 and M40 groups, will receive a one-time e-cash credit of RM100 through the programme.
This was announced by the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, during the second reading of the Supply Bill 2024 (Budget 2024) where the RM1 billion for this programme, was announced by the Prime Minister during the launch of the MADANI Economy Framework: Empowering the People on July 27, 2023.
A statement from the Finance Minister stated that the eMADANI Programme is a continuation of the successful eBeliaRahmah program and has three main objectives, mainly to boost the income of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), promote cashless payments, and benefit the people.
"Towards the end of the year and the school holiday season, the government hopes that the eMADANI contribution can alleviate the financial burden on the people while fostering a cashless payment culture," added Anwar.
"The implementation of the eMADANI program, which starts next Monday, is in line with the government's commitment to expedite implementation, especially measures that support the digitalization of the economy and directly help the people," he said.
Four e-wallet service providers, namely MAE, Setel, ShopeePay, and Touch 'n Go eWallet, are participating in this program. In addition to the RM100 e-cash credit from the government, the participating e-wallet service providers will also provide additional incentives in the form of vouchers, cashback, discounts, or reward points throughout the program period.
Those eligible are Malaysian citizens aged 21 and above as of January 1, 2023 and recipients of the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) based on records as of November 7, 2023; or an income of RM100,000 and below per year based on records from the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDNM) as of July 15, 2023.
“The registration and redemption period for eMADANI will start from 8:00 am on December 4, 2023, until February 20, 2024, through the chosen e-wallet service provider's application. The utilization of eMADANI credit and benefits from the participating e-wallet service providers can only be spent physically until February 29, 2024.”
“eMADANI credit can also be utilized through retailers/merchants that accept payments via the DuitNow QR code using one of the e-wallets involved in this program, subject to allowed transactions.”
