Church representatives commend Ewon for his contributions

KOTA BELUD: The Kota Belud Council of Churches, led by Pastor Phool Tompisan, has been granted RM20,000 to support the upcoming Christmas celebration.


Pastor Phool announced that these funds will be distributed among the 140 churches and over 100 pastors and church elders from various denominations in the area.


He expressed deep gratitude to Datuk Ewon Benedick, the Kadamaian State Assemblyman, for this generous contribution, emphasising that it will significantly aid their efforts in celebrating the meaningful occasion.


“We are very proud to have a State Assemblyman like him, who understands our needs,” he stated.


Ewon also allocated RM1,000 to each church to contribute to the upcoming Christmas celebration. In addition, each pastor and catechist received RM500 to support their participation in the festive activities.


This generous funding aims to enhance the spirit of the season, ensuring that all churches and their leaders are well-equipped to celebrate this joyous occasion with their congregations. The contributions reflect a commitment to fostering community and supporting the various denominations as they come together to commemorate the significance of Christmas.


Church elder Munsu Dagar, of the Sidang Injil Borneo (SIB) Kg Piasau said, “I am profoundly moved by Datuk Ewon's generous donation to the SIB Piasau Church. His support means a great deal to us, and I am sincerely grateful for his commitment to our community.  I truly believe that Datuk Ewon exemplifies the qualities of a compassionate leader who genuinely cares about the welfare of the people.”


“His dedication to uplifting our church and community reflects his understanding of the importance of faith and support in our lives. We are fortunate to have such a leader who prioritises the needs of his constituents,” he said, adding that about 300 are regulars at his church.


Pastor Juakim Digi of Kg Tegudon SIB Church, who serves a congregation of approximately 209 members, stated,“I am profoundly grateful to Datuk Ewon for his genuine concern for our community. He is a leader who embodies warmth and approachability, making him accessible to all of us.”


“I sincerely hope he continues to lead Kadamaian for many years to come, as this moment is truly significant for us and for the churches in the region. Datuk Ewon possesses a heartfelt commitment to supporting the churches and the pastors under his constituency, demonstrating his dedication to our spiritual growth and well-being.”


“ His efforts have made a meaningful impact, and we are fortunate to have such a compassionate leader. May God bless Datuk Ewon abundantly and strengthen him in his ongoing endeavours,” he said.


Pastor Tahir Balinu of SIB Bangkahak Nayasan, with 310 church members said, “I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Datuk Ewon for his genuine concern for God's servants, including pastors. I firmly believe that his actions reflect a mandate from God, as he consistently exemplifies care and service for all."


Pastor Melvin Dickson Meliton from the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church of the Gaur Region, which serves a congregation of 550 members, expressed his sincere gratitude, stating, “I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Datuk Ewon for his invaluable contributions to me and to all of us in Kadamaian. May God bless him and his dedicated service.”


Pastor Jeslie Mungau of SDA Church in Kg Nahaba said, “I am deeply grateful for Datuk Ewon's generous contribution to our community. His unwavering support and genuine concern for the welfare of the people are truly commendable. Thank you, Datuk, for your commitment to making a positive impact.”


His church serves a congregation of 560 members.


Pastor Afsani Yunatan of Kg Penempatan, who serves the Evangelical Church of Malaysia (GIM) also expressed his gratitude to the Kadamaian State Assemblyman for his contribution to his church and all the recipients.


“I believe he is a good man and is concerned about his constituents.”


Church leaders in his constituency are pleased with Ewon, who is also the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDC) for his support for community initiatives, his contributions to the churches, and his engagement in charitable activities, including his touchpoints for the needy, the sick and grieving families of deceased, among others.


Many have noted his strong commitment to his constituents and his active contributions to the well-being of the community, which have fostered their approval and appreciation of his character.
