CKS Retail Opens First 24-Hour Outlet in Kota Kinabalu

13 October 2024

KOTA KINABALU: CKS Retail Sdn Bhd has launched its first 24-hour retail outlet at Lido here, marking a significant milestone for the local retail chain.

The new store, which opened its doors on Tuesday, is the company’s 63rd outlet but the first to operate round the clock.

CKS Retail’s General Manager, Ivan Chua, highlighted that this strategic move caters to the increasing demand for after-hours shopping.

"We recognize that many customers prefer to shop outside of peak hours to avoid traffic congestion," Chua said at the launch event.

The outlet, which stocks over 12,000 products, offers a wide variety of goods ranging from household essentials like detergents to fresh produce, including poultry and seafood.

Chua emphasized the company's commitment to maintaining competitive prices, ensuring that customers receive value for money.

The official launch was officiated by Sabah's Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe.

In his speech, Phoong expressed satisfaction with the new outlet, noting its customer-friendly layout.

"The store is brightly lit and features spacious walkways, making it especially accessible for senior citizens," he said.

Phoong, who has personal ties to the Lido area, reflected on the changes in the community.

"I grew up here when the area was still home to Milimewa. It’s heartening to see how the community is being revitalized, with young entrepreneurs injecting fresh ideas," he added.

Phoong also encouraged more entrepreneurs to set up businesses, such as cafes and coffee shops, to further enrich the area’s offerings.

In addition, Phoong mentioned the ongoing Lido flood mitigation project, which he assured would be completed soon.

"For decades, floods were a major issue in this area, with water levels rising over a foot in some shops. Thankfully, positive changes are already being felt," he remarked.

The event was also attended by Cara Kaya Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Andy Goh and Luyang Community Leader Chin Thau Kwong.
