CoBT tourism promotions recognised by STB

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Tourism Board has recognised I-World Travel for its significant contributions to promoting community-based tourism (CoBT) in Sabah.
During a ceremony today, Sabah Tourism Board Chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai signed a certificate acknowledging the company's commitment to responsible tourism practices.
He presented this certificate to I-World Travel's Chief Executive Officer, Amity Wong, during the company's Chinese New Year open house celebration.
Joniston, who also serves as the Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment, praised I-World Travel for its proactive efforts in promoting CoBT experiences, particularly in Tenom and Kudat.
With the growing global interest in sustainable and community-driven travel, he emphasised that Sabah Tourism remains dedicated to supporting stakeholders who contribute to the development of CoBT.
“By recognising industry leaders like I-World Travel, we aim to inspire more businesses to adopt sustainable tourism models that create meaningful impacts for local communities,” he stated.
The event was also attended by Sabah Tourism Board Deputy Chief Executive Officer Tay Shu Lan.
