KOTA KINABALU: Sabah DAP Chairman Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung has called on the government to convene the state legislative sitting as soon as possible in order to present and pass the Sabah Anti-Hoping Bill.

He was appalled when Warisan expressed consideration to accept Bandau assemblyman Datuk Wetrom Bahanda, who recently defected from GRS, into its fold.

“I asked myself how could party hopping be encouraged after Parliament on July 28 voted in favour of Anti Hopping Law?

“Sabah local party Warisan also voted in favour of it. The objective of the law is meant to provide stability to the Government of the day,” he said in a statement recently.

“It just showed how hypocritical the so-called local party of Warisan is - crying out local sentiments while at the same time doing the exact opposite,” he added.

Frankie who is the Tanjong Papat assemblyman said this truly shows the real face of Warisan and that the party never had the intention to practice what it preaches.

According to him, party hoping would cause instability to the government of the day which would also would inadvertently defer and adversely affect the government’s development as well as the people’s businesses and livelihood.

“Hence, I like to ask whether the local Party of Warisan really has the best interest of people of Sabah in their mind or their own personal interests?

“Are they just interested in grabbing power notwithstanding the means to the end and how it would cause much sufferings to the people?

“I take this opportunity to call upon the Sabah Government to convene the next Dun Sitting soonest possible and to present and pass Sabah Anti Hopping Bill,” he stressed.
