COVID-19: CNY DINNER CAUSE OF MAWAR CLUSTER IN SANDAKAN

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded a new Covid-19 cluster today known as Mawar cluster in Sandakan which stemmed from a Chinese New Year dinner gathering.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said 15 Covid-19 cases were recorded today from the cluster, bringing the cumulative total to 15 cases.
"The index case of this cluster was detected through screening of symptomatic individuals at a private clinic on Feb 22.
“Close contact screening found that 14 family members were detected positive Covid-19 through the RTK Ag tests," he said in a statement today.
"It was also found that the transmission occurred when the family gathered for a Chinese New Year dinner at their house on Feb 12," he added.
