Covid-19: Sabah records 1,395 new cases, one new cluster in Kinabatangan


18 Sept 2021 By Wartawan Nabalu News KOTA KINABALU: Sabah continues to record declining number in Covid-19 cases with 1,395 cases reported today. Sabah’s official Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said that the number of daily cases is 138 cases less compared to yesterday’s 1,533. He added that the number of death cases also recorded a downward trend with 13 new cases. “Lahad Datu and Putatan recorded three deaths, Tawau and Kudat recorded two deaths while Kota Belud, Sandakan and Kinabatangan recorded one case each,” said Masidi in a statement. He disclosed that a total of 16 districts have shown a decrease in cases, with only 11 districts experiencing an increase. Masid who is also the Local Government and Housing Minister said that one new cluster, known as the Sawit Safoda Cluster emerged in Kinabatangan. He said currently it has a cumulative total of 23 positive cases. “The index case is a 32-year-old who works at the said palm oil plantation,” he added. Close contact screenings remain the main contributor to the new cases, which comprised 59.7 per cent of Friday’s tally.
