COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 263 NEW CASES

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s new Covid-19 cases today rose to 263, an increase of 35 cases compared to yesterday’s 228, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 70,720.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said of the total cases today, 117 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 79 were detected through targeted screening, 48 through cluster screening, 11 from symptomatic screening and eight from other categories.


“Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest cases with 89 followed by Kudat (37), Tawau (34), Beaufort (21), Putatan (17), Kota Belud (14), Sandakan (11), Tuaran (seven), Penampang, Lahad Datu, and Kinabatangan (five), Pitas (four), Kunak and Keningau (three), Papar, Kalabakan, Semporna and Kota Marudu (two).


“Districts that did not record any cases today are Tambunan, Kuala Penyu, Nabawan, Ranau, Tenom, Tongod, Telupid, Sipitang, and Beluran," he said in a statement today.


The number of active cases now stands at 1,714 with 403 treated at hospitals, 1,151 in quarantine centres and 160 in detention centres.


"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 54 with 18 requiring ventilator support," he stated.


As for recoveries, a total of 232 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 68,109.
