COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 38 NEW CASES, 70 RECOVERIES


16 Mar 2021 By Wartawan Nabalu News KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 38 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 53,864. In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said 17 of the cases were close contacts to positive cases, five stemmed from symptomatic screening, eight from existing cluster, and eight from other categories. Keningau recorded the highest number of new cases with nine, followed by Nabawan (eight), Sipitang (four), Kota Belud, Sandakan, Kota Marudu and Tenom each with three cases, Kota Kinabalu (two), and Tawau, Papar and Beaufort each with one case. A total of 16 districts did not record new cases, namely Kalabakan, Tambunan, Penampang, Beluran, Telupid, Kunak, Kinabatangan, Semporna, Lahad Datu, Tongod, Kudat, Pitas, Ranau, Tuaran, Putatan and Kuala Penyu. "A total of 70 patients have also recovered from Covid-19. To date, a total of 53,065 recovered cases have been recorded in Sabah. "However, 410 patients are still receiving treatment with 174 in hospitals and the rest in Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres," said Masidi. He added that 19 of them are warded in the intensive care unit (ICU), including four requiring ventilator support.
