Donation for hostel

KOTA KINABALU: The Avasi Hostel of Kanibongan Pitas was accorded RM5000 by Datuk Ewon Benedick, President of UPKO.

According to Kudat UPKO Branch Head Junsim Ruminzing, this donation would go towards painting, installation of grills and other repairs.

He said this was in line with the shared aspirations of the President where education was one of the tenets of development.

He said UPKO leaders prioritised education as a powerful tool for societal transformation.

According to him, there were four tenets of UPKO in its efforts to improve access to quality education, enhance educational infrastructure, and support initiatives that enable lifelong learning.

This empowers individuals and contributes to the overall development of the nation.

"Upholding Good Governance, Ensuring Food Security and Encouraging Entrepreneurship are the other subjects advocated by UPKO," Jusim said.

According to him, the donation towards the hostel was a tremendous help and hoped that Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) would also come forward to donate towards this worthy cause.

Also present during the event were Jomin Mogimpit, Chairman of PCS Parakoi Kanibongan Church, and Jainis Sugamboi, Chairman of the Hostel and Hostel Committee.
