KOTA KINABALU: All agencies under the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (KKTP), including Local Authorities (PBT), must expedite the resolution of public complaints, in line with their role as providers of government services at the grassroots level.
Deputy Chief Minister II, Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, who is also the Minister of KKTP, stated that any issues that can be resolved directly should be addressed promptly without waiting for further instructions to ensure that the welfare of the public remains a priority.
"I would like to remind everyone to deliver the best service to our stakeholders out there. Ensure that complaints and issues related to our scope, roles, and duties are resolved as efficiently as possible," he said during a speech at the Aidilfitri and Kaamatan celebration organised by KKTP at Wisma Innoprise here today.
Dr. Joachim mentioned that the recent Sabah State Assembly (DUN) sitting provided a platform for implementing checks and balances on the functions and responsibilities of ministries, agencies, and PBT.
He stated that the assembly also served as an essential platform to gather information regarding current issues occurring in the field, thus it is crucial for every officer to perform their duties efficiently and with integrity.
Additionally, he expressed appreciation to all KKTP staff, agencies under the ministry, and PBT for their commitment and dedication in delivering services to the public.
"Our work is evaluated by the public. Every action and decision must reflect the integrity, sincerity, and high professionalism expected of public servants," he said.
Dr. Joachim also reminded that the success of the ministry does not depend on any single individual, but rather on the collaboration and efforts of all those involved.
At the event, over 500 staff from KKTP, agencies, and PBT gathered to celebrate Aidilfitri and Kaamatan in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Also present were the Assistant Minister of KKTP, Datuk Isnin Aliasnih; the Chairman and General Manager of the Housing and Town Development Authority (LPPB), Datuk Masiung Banah and Datuk Rosemary Ahping; the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Datuk Dr. Jamili Nais; the Chairman of Sabah Softwoods Berhad, Datuk Mohd Arsad Bistari; Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Datuk Dr. Roland Chia; Deputy Permanent Secretary I of KKTP, Stanley Chong; and Deputy Permanent Secretary II, who is also the event's organising chairman, Faridah Giau.
