E-hailing celebrated Malaysia Day by giving free rides

19 September 2024

KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia Day holds special significance for the people of Sabah, marking the historic union of Sabah, Sarawak, and Malaya to form the nation of Malaysia.

To celebrate this important occasion, an e-hailing service , Maxim, offered free rides, that allowed residents and visitors to honour the day while enjoying convenient transportation.

This initiative not only facilitated the celebrations but also promoted community spirit and unity among Malaysians.

For the occasion, Maxim designed specially customised car stickers that showed the power of Malaysia, with “Harimau Malaya” as the main character.

Passengers who ordered Maxim services on Malaysia Day had a chance to have a ride in the exclusive car for free.

A statement from Maxim stated that the campaign aimed to spread the spirit of patriotism and unity in the country and bring joy to the people of Kota Kinabalu.

The decorated cars started its journey at Maxim’s office at 7:00 AM and finished the last trip at 11:00 PM.

It was a continuous chain of trips that lasted into the night to ensure that as many passengers as possible could enjoy the benefits of the campaign and celebrate the holiday with Maxim.

The Director of Maxim Malaysia, Mohd Hazwan Musley, said that these free rides had been provided to spread the spirit of national pride by supporting community activities on Malaysia Day.

“Maxim is one of the major transportation companies in Kota Kinabalu and it offers advanced and convenient rides to passengers. This initiative reflects our dedication to not only provide reliable transportation, but also give back to the community that supports us."

"We hoped that by offering free rides, we made it easier for everyone to participate in the celebrations, visit their loved ones, and enjoy the vibrant spirit of Hari Malaysia without having to worry about transportation costs."

"Our team was excited to be part of the festivities and had looked forward to making the holiday season memorable for all our valued customers,” Mohd Hazwan Musley said.

Maxim was launched in Malaysia in 2019. The first order was completed in Kuantan. Now the service operates in all states of Malaysia.
