Encouraging participation in burial sites gotong royong

25 November 2024

KOTA BELUD: The premier gotong royong (community work) event, organised by village head Jolyhame Saran in collaboration with the Neighbourhood Watch (KRT) of Kg. Piasau, chaired by Makulin Malon, took place today to clear and spruce up the burial sites in the area.

The event commenced at 8 am and was conducted across three designated burial areas. Approximately 150 community members participated in this initiative.

This gotong royong is an important event in the village security and development committees (JKKK) Kampung Piasau calendar, which includes two major community work events each year, alongside regular clean-up activities organised by designated blocks. Kampung Piasau has three burial sites: the large cemetery, Paka cemetery, and Dimala cemetery.

According to JKKK chairman Jolyhame Saran and KRT chairman Makulin Malon, the primary objective of this initiative is to fulfill the annual calendar of the JKKK for the village.

Both leaders expressed their sincere gratitude to all residents of Kampung Piasau who contributed, whether through physical participation or in kind.

They emphasised the importance of continuing such programmes in the future, regardless of who leads the village, and highlighted the potential of these initiatives to strengthen community bonds among all residents.
