KOTA BELUD: An eye examination and spectacles donation programme recently held in Kiau Zone was met with great enthusiasm from local villagers.
The event, hosted in the open community space at Kampung Kiau, attracted a significant turnout, as many residents sought to learn about their eye health. This initiative was made possible through a collaborative effort involving PERNAS, Specktruck Sdn Bhd, and the Kadamaian State Assembly Service Centre.
Among the attendees was Faungin Mogirong, the Village Chief of Kg Kiau Bersatu. The 59-year-old chief participated in the program with the hope of obtaining a new pair of glasses, as he has been struggling with poor eyesight since 1987. Grateful for the opportunity, he expressed his desire for future programs to accommodate more participants, as the current event was limited to just one person per session.
“This programme is a tremendous help for those with eye problems in rural areas,” Faungin mentioned.
“I am very excited about initiatives like this because they truly benefit our community. On behalf of Kiau Bersatu Village, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Datuk Ewon Benedick, the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives of Malaysia, who is also the Kadamaian State Assemblyman, for his ongoing concern for the people.”
The successful turnout at the eye examination and glasses donation programme highlights the importance of providing accessible healthcare services in rural communities.
