First MPUKPPD engagement for the northern region held

BAYAN LEPAS (PENANG): The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC) conducted the first engagement session on the proposed implementation of the District Level Entrepreneur, Cooperative, Hawker and Small Trader Development Council (MPUKPPD) for the Northern Zone States of Peninsular Malaysia.


The Minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick, stated that this engagement session was held to inform about the proposed implementation of MPUKPPD in the four Northern Zone states, namely Perlis, Kedah, Penang, and Perak.


He also mentioned that the engagement session aimed to hear the views of each state representative regarding the proposed implementation of MPUKPPD in the respective states.


"The main objective of MPUKPPD is to manage the development of entrepreneurs and cooperatives at the district level and to help resolve issues involving the parties involved more effectively and efficiently.


"Last week, we held a similar engagement session in Sarawak, and the proposal was well received.


"The same goes for Sabah, which implemented MPUKPPD as a pilot project last year in that state. I hope this proposal will also be well received in the other states on the Peninsular," he said to the media after the engagement session here today.


Also present were the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC), Dato’ Sri Suriani Ahmad, Deputy Secretary-General of MEDAC, Datuk Zamri Salleh, Chief Executive Officer of the Cooperative Commission of Malaysia (SKM), Rusli Jaafar, Division Secretary, Cooperative Development Division, Hawker and Small Trader Azizul Alias, representatives of state government secretaries' offices, and district officers.
