Gotong Royong Participants Encouraged by Leader’s Presence

PENAMPANG: The residents of Kampung Botung Kandazon were greatly encouraged by the presence of Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin, Chief of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Penampang, during their recent gotong-royong activity.

Representing UPKO President and Member of Parliament Datuk Ewon Benedick, he actively participated in the installation of culverts and solar streetlights alongside community members.

The installations took place in front of Augustine Jopitol’s house—an area that frequently experiences flooding due to rainwater runoff from the hill, as well as darkness at night due to the absence of streetlights.

This gotong-royong initiative was organised by the UPKO KURAI Penampang voting district machinery, led by Billy Jinawat.

During the event, Donald took the opportunity to engage with villagers, listening to their concerns about local issues and the challenges faced by residents of Kampung Botung, Kampung Kandazon, and Kampung Kuai Penampang.

Also present at the gotong-royong activity were representatives from the People’s Service Centre for P.174 Penampang, the Chairman of the Kampung Kandazon Village Development and Security Committee, Christopher Mojitoh, members of the Volunteer Patrol Scheme (S.R.S) from Kampung Terawi, the Moyog Community Welfare Association Penampang, as well as youth from UPKO branches in Kampung Botung Navahiu and Kampung Kuai Penampang, along with other residents of Kampung Botung Penampang.
