Grand celebration for Head of States Birthday

KOTA KINABALU: A ceremonial parade in conjunction with the official 71st birthday celebration of the Sabah Head of State will be held here on October 5.


A total of 89 contingents will participate in the parade which will include government departments, private sectors, associations, university students, and school students.


Deputy Chief Minister II, Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, who is the Chairman of the Main Organising Committee for the event expressed his appreciation for everyone's involvement, saying that this shows the patriotic spirit towards the Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.


He mentioned that preparations for the event have been underway since early May 2024.


To ensure the smooth running of the ceremonial parade this Saturday, he stated that three rehearsal sessions will be held with all participants involved.


The rehearsals will begin on October 1, 2024. This event is under the supervision of the Kota Kinabalu City Hall Executive Committee.


Joachim, who is also the Minister of Local Government and Housing (KKTP) said,“I have been informed that preparations in the districts are also underway, with billboards being put up as early as September, following the Malaysia Day celebration."


He mentioned that a total of 12 events are planned for implementation by the Executive Committee.


He expressed gratitude to everyone involved for their hard work in ensuring that each event is carefully planned and prayed for the smooth execution of all these events.


“Let us all attend in large numbers to witness the programmes that have been organised during the event. The event will begin as early as 6:30 am at Padang Merdeka, Kota Kinabalu,” he said, during a press conference today.


Also present were Assistant Minister Datuk Mohd Hamsan Awang Supain; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Datuk Dr. Jamili Nais; Director of the Sabah Information Department (JaPen) Jainisah Mohd Noor; Director of Sabah Broadcasting (RTM Sabah) Salmah Hashim; and officials from KKTP, RTM, and JaPen.
