GRS-PH: A Caring Government - Hajiji

28 Mac 2025
SIPITANG: The Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, described the GRS-PH government as a government that cares for the people.
He stated that this aligns with his administration's approach, which is always attentive to the issues faced by the people and supportive of those who are struggling or impoverished. He noted that while the government is focused on efforts to develop the state and enhance the economy, it is by no means neglecting the necessity to assist those in need of support.
"As is customary during Ramadan, whatever we do to enliven this month, we must not forget those who are less fortunate. This is, in fact, one of the virtues of fasting, as it reminds us that there are among our friends those in need or still in difficult circumstances. Therefore, during this month of Ramadan, we organise various events to reach out to the people I am referring to."
"In our government, we have a policy or principle where I consider this government to be a people’s government, one that cares about the problems faced by the people. Besides our focus on building or developing our economy in various ways, the poor and those in hardship must receive assistance," he said.
He made these remarks while speaking at the Chief Minister’s Iftar (breaking of fast) event held at the Imam Haji Awang Hashim Mosque in Sipitang on Thursday.
Hajiji further stated that in line with the GRS-PH’s people-centric policy, the government has formulated a policy to provide assistance to those in need, starting from newborns to adults.
He mentioned that for newborns, the government is introducing an education fund to serve as a provision when they enter the schooling phase.
"We are creating a savings scheme for children who are newly born. Many may not be aware of this, but we indeed have assistance for them. That is why we call this government a people-centric government, as we help everyone from newborns to the elderly who are unable to provide for themselves," he explained.
He clarified that the government had already made significant efforts to be caring towards the people, including a financial aid of RM300 a month for one year for the ultra-poor this year. Most recently, he noted that the State Cabinet approved a Special Financial Aid of RM500 for state civil servants in celebration of Aidilfitri this month, and an additional RM500 for the Kaamatan festival in May.
Meanwhile, Hajiji pointed out that Sipitang’s position bordering Sarawak, as well as its proximity to Brunei and Kalimantan, Indonesia, provides advantages to the district.
He stated that this strategic location has been one of the factors encouraging investors to come to this district to invest in the oil and gas industry, particularly at the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP).
As a result, he said that the industrial park is now full, and the authorities at SOGIP are requesting new land to expand the oil and gas industry in the area.
"In Sipitang, SOGIP is full, and it has requested to expand further. If there is no land available here, we will open a new park near Beaufort; this has already been discussed in the Cabinet because there are no spaces left for investors.
"SOGIP is full under the GRS-PH government, meaning that Sipitang has a bright future as this area will witness the development of many economic activities. Consequently, the financial flow from these economic activities will benefit the people, including restaurant owners, food stall operators, and more; many will reap the benefits," he said.
During the event, Hajiji also delivered contributions and assistance to the needy, orphaned children, and victims of flood disasters.
