KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment, Datuk Christina Liew, has emphasized the hallmark of Sabah's concept of Unity in Diversity, where people coexist in peace and harmony in an exemplary way, enabling non-Muslim communities to share the joy and happiness of the Hari Raya celebration without any hindrances.
Speaking on the occasion of Hari Raya, Liew stressed the need to cherish and perpetuate the aspect of mutual understanding, trust, and respect as the cornerstone of a multi-racial, multi-cultural, and multi-religious Malaysian society.
"As we welcome a new and meaningful day in anticipation of promising tomorrows, we are grateful to The Almighty for yet another Hari Raya festive season," Liew said in her Hari Raya message.
"All of us hope to reap the best from this celebration and move on in life to better days ahead. May The Almighty guide us onto the right path in our personal or professional life. I take this opportunity to wish all Muslim friends in Sabah 'Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri.'"
Liew also acknowledged that Sabah is a beautiful state inhabited by beautiful people and that under the stewardship of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, the state is on an upward trajectory towards attaining economic recovery.
"Let us give our wholehearted support to the State Government's efforts to uplift the socio-economic status of the rakyat, among other people-oriented initiatives," she added.
Sabah's commitment to Unity in Diversity is truly noteworthy, and it is the cornerstone of a Malaysian society that celebrates its cultural and religious diversity.
As Datuk Christina Liew said in her Hari Raya message, this aspect of mutual understanding, trust, and respect must be perpetuated to ensure a peaceful and harmonious coexistence of all communities.
