KCV to hold Cultural Village Festival 2024

PENAMPANG: Koisaan Cultural Village (KCV) is thrilled to announce the upcoming Cultural Village Festival 2024, a vibrant celebration of Sabah’s rich traditions and forward-looking vision.


The festival is scheduled for Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm at the Koisaan Cultural Village, KDCA Penampang.


Datuk Seri Panglima Christina Liew, the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment Sabah (KePKAS), is expected to grace the grand occasion as the Guest of Honour.


According to Revor Anson, the event’s organising chairman, the Cultural Village Festival serves as a vital platform for preserving, promoting, and innovating Sabah’s cultural heritage, ensuring its relevance for future generations.


Additionally, the event aims to strengthen cultural tourism, foster community unity, and inspire meaningful dialogue about the significance of heritage in a modern context.


Attendees can look forward to a blend of cultural and contemporary activities, including, traditional food and crafts. They can sample authentic Sabahan delicacies and admire intricate arts and crafts that showcase the region's rich cultural tapestry.


There will also be cultural performances, where visitors can experience mesmerising traditional dances and music, immersing themselves in the vibrant rhythms and stories of Sabah.


Besides that, a children’s colouring competition will be held where the young ones can showcase their creativity and artistic talents.


A meet and greet activity will also be held where people can interact with notable figures including the winners of Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan 2024, Buvazoi Tavantang Kaamatan 2024, Miss World Malaysia 2023, Saroop Roshi, and the newly crowned Miss World Malaysia 2024.


The Miss World Malaysia Organisation, renowned for its "Beauty with A Purpose" mission, will also bring a meaningful initiative to KDCA during the festival.


This year, Miss World Malaysia 2023, Saroop Roshi, alongside the new Miss World Malaysia 2024, will participate in a significant event aimed at creating a positive impact, following their Grand Finals on December 3, 2024, at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).


Miss Saroop Roshi will also launch her new book, “Let’s Unmask Our Minds with Ronnie the Horse”, an engaging resource designed to teach children about emotional intelligence, exemplifying their commitment to inspire and educate the younger generation.


Led by Dr. Sean Wong, the franchise owner of Miss World Malaysia, this initiative underscores the organisation's dedication to assisting disadvantaged families and supporting those in need.


Mrs. Julia Morley CBE, Chairman of the Miss World Organisation, and reigning Miss World 2024, Miss Krystyna Pyszkova, are expected to be present.


Two thought-provoking forums will also take place, focusing on Sabah’s cultural heritage. The first Forum is on Innovation in tradition and culture, adapting heritage to the modern Era. This discussion will explore how traditions can evolve alongside modernity through technology, innovative expressions, and youth involvement.


The second forum is on the role of mentors and planning in passing down cultural leadership to the next generation. This forum will highlight the legacy of the Bobohizan and the cultural significance of Unduk Ngadau, discussing education’s role in nurturing future cultural leaders.


These forums will provide a unique platform for engaging with experts and gaining insights into preserving and evolving Sabah's rich culture.


Additional Activities include a blood donation drive, a lucky draw with cash price with the grand price being RM5,000.


The festival is being organised by the Koisaan Cultural Village and KDCA Youth Council, with support from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Environment Sabah, Sabah Tourism Board, Tourism Malaysia Sabah, KDCA Women’s Council, National Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan 2024, Buvanzoi Tavantang Kaamatan, Miss World Malaysia Organisation, Jabatan Penerangan Sabah, RTM Sabah, and collaborative partners, St. John Ambulance Sabah and Kelab Komuniti Sayang Sabah.


The general public is cordially invited to join in the festival.
