SEPANG : KL International Airport (KLIA) has been recognised as one of the world’s top 10 airports in the 2024 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey for airports handling more than 40 million passengers annually.

According to Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), the prestigious ranking, awarded by Airports Council International (ACI), saw KLIA achieve an impressive near-perfect score of 4.99 out of 5. This recognition highlights the airport’s strong commitment to service excellence and operational efficiency.

The ASQ survey is a globally recognised benchmark for airport quality, evaluating passenger satisfaction across key areas such as safety, services, facilities, and cleanliness.

“KLIA’s strong performance in these categories further cements its position as a leading global aviation hub,” MAHB said in a statement on Monday.

MAHB attributed KLIA’s success to several key enhancements aimed at improving the passenger experience. Among them are a welcoming ambience, expanded seating areas, upgraded charging stations, and fast, reliable Wi-Fi.

“The airport also received high praise for its cleanliness, particularly its well-maintained washrooms, which contribute significantly to an enjoyable travel experience,” it added.

“Beyond its amenities, KLIA’s dedicated staff have also been lauded for their warmth and attentiveness, reflecting Malaysia’s renowned hospitality.”

Malaysia Airports Managing Director, Dato’ Mohd Izani Ghani, highlighted that KLIA’s consistent presence in the ASQ top 10 rankings since 2022 reflects MAHB’s focus on enhancing the airport experience through innovative solutions and improved facilities.

“We also thank KLIA’s dedicated airport community and stakeholders, who are the driving force behind our progress.”

“With our new shareholders placing strong emphasis on service excellence, we are confident these efforts will further elevate our standing in future global rankings,” he said.

MAHB emphasised that in anticipation of Visit Malaysia Year 2026, KLIA is undergoing a series of key upgrades designed to enhance passenger comfort.

“These include expanded seating areas, refurbished prayer rooms, and next-generation baggage trolleys. Passengers can also look forward to enhanced buggy services, self-service check-in, and bag-drop kiosks, as well as family-friendly features such as the Orangutan Playground Kids Zone, wheelchairs, baby strollers, heritage walls, and designated family parking lots.”

MAHB also noted that with a renewed focus on innovation and service excellence, KLIA is committed to strengthening its position as one of the world’s top airports.
