KOTA KINABALU: A landslide, stretching 150 metres at Km20 Jalan Ranau-Tamparuli does not affect the Kota Kinabalu-Sandakan main road on both directions. Ranau district police chief DSP Sammy Newton said the Kota Kinabalu-Sandakan road is passable on both directions as the landslide occurred at the car park of Kinabalu Park, about 90 kilometres from Kota Kinabalu. He said the police received a report on the landslide at 7.15 am today and and there was no settlement in the area.

"The cause of the landslide is believed to be due to the continuous rain over the past few days in Ranau district," he said when contacted by Bernama, here today.

Sammy said there was no casualty reported so far.

He said the Sabah Parks had closed the landslide area and monitoring work was currently being carried out by the Ranau Public Works Department (JKR). - Bernama
