Meeting on Poverty eradication data

28 November 2024

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat, under the Chief Minister’s Department, today held the Phase 2.0 Engagement Session for the eradication of Extreme Poverty Data in Sabah with Members of the State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) Series 01 at Hyatt Centric, Kota Kinabalu.

This engagement session was specifically for ADUNs from non-government parties. Two Members of the State Assembly from non-government parties and three other ADUN representatives participated in this session.

They include ADUN Tungku, Assaffal @ Samsul Kamal P. Alian (Tungku), and ADUN Bongawan, Dr. Daud Yusof, as well as three representatives from the Sungai Manila, Sukau, and Darau constituencies.

The engagement session was held following the directive of the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor, during the third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the Sixteenth State Legislative Assembly, which took place recently.

The Chief Coordinator of the Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat (SMJ), Datuk Rosmadi Sulai, delivered a message and introduced the program aimed at eradicating extreme poverty in Sabah.

Rosmadi stated that the state government is committed to realising the agenda to eliminate poverty in Sabah. He requested the assistance and cooperation of the ADUNs to identify the list of the poorest and those living in extreme poverty in their respective areas.

He emphasised that this engagement session is important for obtaining input and suggestions from all parties, particularly the non-government party ADUNs, regarding the addition of names of Head of Households (KIR) and Household Members (AIR) who are left out in the e-Kasih system from their respective constituencies into the Sabah State Poverty Database System (PADANS).

Rosmadi noted that this engagement session reflects the openness and commitment of the government leadership at this time to eradicate extreme poverty in Sabah. The Chief Minister affirmed that efforts to eliminate extreme poverty should not be limited by religion, race, or political beliefs.

As part of the Engagement Session for the eradication of Extreme Poverty Data in Sabah, the ADUNs and their representatives were also briefed on the PADAS System and the procedure for applying for registration in that system for future assistance interventions.

Also present at the engagement session were the Director of the SMJ Secretariat, Rosnih Othman, and other officials.
