Miss World Malaysia 2024 Press Conference Highlights Beauty with a Purpose

KOTA KINABALU: The Press Conference for Miss World Malaysia 2024 took place today, emphasising the event’s commitment to the mission of "Beauty with A Purpose."


The occasion brought together an esteemed gathering, including Dr. Sean Wong, National Director of Miss World Malaysia, Mr. Jment Lim, Founder of SunStrong Entertainment, reigning Miss World Malaysia 2023 Saroop Roshi, media representatives, sponsors, and the finalists for this year’s pageant.


In his address, the Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Joniston Bangkuai highlighted the significance of the event, stating it is more than a celebration of beauty; it is also a platform for purpose, dedication, and driving meaningful societal change.


The initiative encourages young women to step into leadership roles, champion important causes, and represent their communities with intellect and compassion.


He expressed his appreciation for Dr. Sean Wong’s tireless efforts in organising the event, which aims to showcase Sabah’s unique charm, culture, and hospitality on a global stage.


“His dedication has not only enhanced Sabah’s tourism profile but has also empowered local communities.”


Jment Lim, whose partnership has been crucial for the success of the event was also lauded by Joniston as well as Mrs. Julia Morley CBE, Chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organisation, for her unwavering support, which has highlighted Sabah's breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage.


The reigning Miss World Malaysia 2023, Saroop Roshi, was welcomed back to Sabah and Joniston praised her inspirational efforts in promoting the state and congratulated her on the launch of her new book, which serves to inspire young women.


"This event reminds us of the impact we can create when we unite for a shared purpose," he remarked. By promoting tourism, empowering women, and supporting charitable causes, the initiative aims to leave a lasting legacy.


"You are the pride of your communities, and this platform is your opportunity to chase your dreams and inspire others.”


As excitement builds for the Grand Finals at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) tomorrow (December 3) the focus remains on celebrating the spirit of Miss World Malaysia and the positive changes it promotes.


Recognition was also given to the media, sponsors, and partners for their invaluable support, which forms the foundation of the programme's success.


Joniston expressed his belief and confidence that the finalists will contribute to a brighter future for Malaysia on the global stage.
