Miss World Malaysia, beauty pageant promotes Sabah's tourism potentials

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will once again host the Miss World Malaysia 2024 competition, further enhancing the state's image on the international stage.
The Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, stated that hosting such an event aligns perfectly with the direction of the state government's administration today, which seeks to empower such initiatives.
"This event can not only help attract foreign investors but also tourists to the state.
"We want various events to be held in this state to further strengthen the tourism sector," he said while attending a dinner with all the finalists of Miss World Malaysia 2024 hosted at The Crab House Seafood Restaurant yesterday.
He noted that the diversity of international-standard programme held in Sabah can enhance the state's image in Asia and globally.
"I hope to see Sabah become more renowned and highly regarded on the international stage," he said.
This year, 11 finalists will compete in the Miss World Malaysia 2024 final, which will be held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu on December 3, 2024.
The Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment, Datuk Seri Panglima Christina Liew, is expected to be the guest of honor at the event.
As it was last year, four finalists from this competition are from Sabah: Kelly Eleanor Tseu, Fillonie Francis, Lyn Sinsua, and Tiffany Vaishenevi Pillai Ragupathi.
Other participants include Car Menn Lee from Selangor, Hantze Liow (Kuala Lumpur), Nandhini Sundaram (Kedah), Nivashini Wadivello (Kuala Lumpur), Plohmeena Sachpreet (Kuala Lumpur), Taanusiya Chetty (Kuala Lumpur), and Sheena Devayani (Kuala Lumpur).
Also present were the Chief Executive Officer of HyperLive Entertainment and National Director of Miss World Malaysia, Dr. Sean Wong, and the owner of The Crab House Seafood Restaurant, Ken Oh, along with other distinguished guests.
Among the activities that the finalists will participate in before the competition on December 3 are beach clean-ups at Dinawan Island, the SEED HEART program at Dewan Seri Sulaman Tuaran, Food Aid Charity in Kampung Kironggu, Inanam, and many more.
