PENAMPANG: A convention to achieve consensus and agreement among the Momogun people of Sabah to urge the State and Federal Governments to establish the term "MOMOGUN" in the official government forms currently in use will be held on August 1.

It is being organised by the Momogun National Congress (MNC) in collaboration with the Sabah State Cultural Board (LKNS) and the Jabatan Hal Ehwal Anak Negeri Sabah (JHEANS) at the Sabah Cultural Center, Penampang.

During the pre-convention on June 22, this year a total of 109 representatives from 52 ethnic organisations, associations, non-governmental organisations, (NGO) and cooperatives expressed support for this initiative after being categorised as "Others" for so long in their own country.

The Momogun Convention 2024 will provide an opportunity to strengthen this support further and offer a chance for other organisations and associations that could not attend the pre-convention to also show their support.

The Momogun Convention 2024 will be officiated by Datuk Seri Panglima

Masidi Manjun, Sabah Minister of Finance while the closing ceremony will be conducted by Datuk Ewon Benedick, the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives.
