MP reiterate pledge and commitment to his constituency

PENAMPANG: In a show of unwavering dedication to his constituency, Penampang Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Ewon Benedick, reiterated his pledge to serve and represent the people who elected him.

Speaking during a Chinese New Year Ang Pao Festival at Buhavan Square, he stressed his strong commitment to address their concerns and uplift their quality of life in tandem with the Penampang status elevation to a Municipality.

He emphasised that the development plans for Penampang, following its elevation to a municipality, encompass a range of crucial initiatives. These include prioritising long-overdue flood mitigation plans, which have been delayed for several years. Additionally, numerous other essential development projects are being considered to propel the district forward and meet its future needs.

“We all have our roles towards this end and as such let’s work together to ensure that our aspirations are met,” he said.

One of the key commitments that he pledges is to preserve the rich culture and traditions of the diverse ethnic backgrounds in Penampang. He recognises the importance of celebrating the festivities that hold significant cultural value for the community.

He specifically mentions that the Chinese New Year celebration will continue to be held in Penampang, just as it has been in previous years. This commitment ensures the continuity of the festival, as it plays a vital role in bringing people together and fostering friendship and understanding among the community members.

He later led the beating of the drum to launch the Chinese New Year Ang Pao Festival in Penampang as well as toss the prosperity dish Yee Sang with other notable presence such as Kapayan State Assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang, UPKO Vice President Datuk Donald Mojuntin, PKR Penampang Chief Joseph Alex Chang and Carl Mosoom the Political Secretary of Datuk Ewon, who is also the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, among others.
