KOTA KINABALU: A Covid-19 new cluster was detected in Sabah today, the 'Jalan Bukit Bendera' cluster which involves three districts, namely Kota Kinabalu, Beaufort and Papar.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said, two new cases were recorded today, bringing the cumulative total of positive cases in the cluster to 18.
"The index case was detected via symptomatic individuals screening on Jan 5 at Membakut Health Clinic.
"Meanwhile, workplace and close contact screening found that 17 individuals tested positive for Covid-19 - 13 cases reported in Kota Kinabalu, three in Beaufort and two in Papar," he said in a statement today.
Statewide, a total of 432 new cases were registered today, bringing the tally of infections in Sabah to 44,076. One death case in Kudat was also registered today.
"A total of 438 patients have recovered from Covid-19 and the total of recoveries in Sabah now stands at 39,764.
"A total of 2,906 patients are currently receiving treatment with 794 are treated in the hospital and the rest are in the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres.
"A total of 91 are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) including 23 of them requiring ventilator support," said Masidi.
