INANAM: A local non-governmental organisation (NGO), Persatuan Kebajikan Pekerja-Pekerja Kelab Rekreasi Sabah (PKPKRS) has taken the extra mile to collect and restore used computers and laptops, and donate them to underprivileged students.
This came after the acknowledgment of these students, who all study in SJK (C) Yick Nam here, face constant difficulties in catching up with their online studies during the pandemic.
“Most students are not able to go to school as usual and are required to attend online classes, but not all students can afford to have a proper device at home.
“Therefore, the organising committee of PKPKRS Charity Programme held this monthly good cause to help out the needy students by finding donors who can donate used computers and laptops for them to use,” said the assocation.
The gadgets were handed over to the school principal Wang Teck Yun by the association’s advisor Monica Chang.
Chang disclosed that most of the students come from poor families who are not able to provide the device for their children.
She said, the only way to help these students stay on track is through the teachers’ effort to send their school work to their parents’ mobile.
Therefore, PKPKRS aims to help more students with by continuing with the charity programme.
“The organising committees wish to encourage more organisations and corporates to collaborate and join in hand to donate their used gadgets to make this programme a success which will benefit more underprivileged students,” said the association.
