KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) reaffirms its stance to continue advocating for the rights of the people of Sabah, in line with its role as the oldest political party in the state for the past 40 years.

The Acting President of PBS, Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, stated that the party remains consistent in defending the special rights of the people of Sabah and is committed to the principles of multi-ethnic politics.

He made these remarks during the inauguration of the PBS Darau Division at an event held at Zenia Steamboat and Grill, Sepanggar, last night. The event was attended by approximately 300 people, including top party leaders and PBS members.

According to Dr. Joachim, in addition to advocating for the rights of the people, PBS is also determined to ensure that the development of the state and the well-being of the people of Sabah are on par with the advanced states in Peninsular Malaysia.

"We want basic amenities such as water supply, electricity, roads, education, and healthcare services to be equivalent to those in Peninsular Malaysia," he said.

He also urged PBS Darau members to revisit the Spirit of '85, which has been the foundation of the party's struggle since its establishment.

Meanwhile, Dr. Joachim congratulated Dato’ Seri Marsya @ Norhaizah Abu Bakar for successfully revitalizing PBS Darau and expressed hope that the division would continue to be strong and fully committed to the party.

Also present at the event were PBS Vice President Datuk Johnny Mositun, who served as the Permanent Chairman of the meeting, Youth Movement Chief Dr. Christoper Mandut, PBS Executive Secretary Mesilus Roman, and members of the Supreme Council.
