Police report made against the expansion of JKDM into Sabah
21 May 2024
KOTA KINABAlU: Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar, the Chairman of Gerakan Kuasa Rakyat Malaysia (G57) lodged a police report against the Ministry of Rural Development and Territories (KKDW), led by Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, following their decision to expand the Village Development Committee (JKDM) to Sabah without the consent of the Sabah state government.
He stated that Malaysia was officially established on September 16, 1963, through the merger of the Federation of Malaya, Singapore, Sarawak, and North Borneo (Sabah).
Once again, it should be reiterated that in 1963, Sabah, along with Malaya, Sarawak, and Singapore, was involved in the formation of the Malaysian government through the terms of the MA63 agreement.
The establishment of JKDM in Sabah by UMNO leaders representing the Ministry of Rural Development and Territories (KKDW), without informing or seeking prior approval from the Sabah state government, is seen as an attempt to undermine the Sabah state government, including its people.
“On what grounds was JKDM created without the approval of the Sabah state government?” he questioned.
“Although UMNO has had a presence in Sabah for a long time, it is currently in the opposition. Is it logical for UMNO leaders leading KKDW at the federal level to seek approval from Datuk Bung Moktar, a Sabah State Legislative Assembly opposition member, while sidelining the Chief Minister of Sabah in making decisions regarding matters related to Sabah's development?”
Sabah is presently under the governance of GRS (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah) and PH (Pakatan Harapan). This police report has been filed in response to the disrespectful actions of the UMNO Minister concerning the establishment of JKDM in Sabah.
It serves as a preliminary warning report, given the ongoing disputes among GRS, PH, and UMNO politicians in Sabah. Failure to address this issue appropriately may lead to the escalation of conflicts that could impact the grassroots, particularly as power struggles involving JKKK and JKDM are at play, he opined.-ends
