PENAMPANG: The Women in Politics Development Programme, organised by Starlight Navigate PLT, recently wrapped up its webinar series, bringing together women politicians from various Malaysian political parties.


Participants from DAP, PKR, UPKO, GAGASAN, PEJUANG, UMNO, STAR Sabah, MIC, WARISAN, MUDA, Bersatu, and Independents engaged in sessions aimed at enhancing their political strategies and campaigning skills.


The final session, held today, focused on "Political Strategy and Campaigning - Gender Lenses" which was delivered by Rowindy Lawrence from United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) as the speaker. With 25 attendees, the discussion centered on tailored strategies for women in politics, both pre-election and during campaigns. The session highlighted the unique challenges and opportunities that women face in the political sphere.

Key points covered included understanding voter demographics, crafting targeted messages, grassroots campaign tactics, financial management, and addressing gender-specific challenges such as biases and advocating for gender equality within political parties.


Special guests Dato’ Seri Chong Eng (Penang) and State Assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang (Kepayan) shared their experiences and insights on navigating the political landscape as women leaders.


Jacklyn, Coach at Starlight Navigate, expressed, “It was an impactful sharing from our speaker Rowindy; this is exactly what most of the participants needed.”


The graduation ceremony for the participants is set to take place on August 6, 2024, in Peninsular Malaysia, marking the culmination of a program dedicated to empowering and equipping women in politics with the necessary skills and knowledge for success.
