Sabah civil servants to receive salary increment at year end

22 January 2024

KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor has announced that Sabah civil servants will receive a well-deserved salary increment by the end of this year.

"We will align the salary payments in accordance with the federal government's outlined plans," stated Hajiji.

"Our disbursements will adhere to the agreed-upon guidelines set by Putrajaya," he added, emphasising that the adjustments will come into effect in December.

Hajiji made these remarks during a press briefing following the inauguration of a wellness center at Excellence Alamesra.

On August 16, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the implementation of the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) starting from December 1.

Anwar, who also serves as the Finance Minister, highlighted that the SSPA is built upon three fundamental reforms aimed at enhancing the productivity and efficiency of the civil service.

Under the SSPA framework, civil servants in the implementing and professional categories will receive a 15% salary increment, while those in senior management and professional positions will witness a 7% increase.

The salary adjustments will be rolled out in two phases: the initial phase in December of this year and the subsequent phase in January 2026.
