11 November 2024
PENAMPANG: The Sabah government is actively reviewing its bylaws and ordinances related to waste management as part of broader efforts to enhance cleanliness and improve residents’ quality of life.
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, highlighted this initiative at the launch of the innovative "Bio Green Machine" at the Sabah Credit Corporation (SCC) building in Donggongon on Monday.
Dr. Joachim emphasized that the Bio Green Machine initiative aims to foster environmental sustainability by providing an efficient solution for organic waste management. The machine is designed to process large volumes of food and organic waste, converting them into valuable by-products such as fertilizers, which can be used in agriculture and landscaping.
"This initiative aligns with the State Government’s mission to promote waste reduction and encourage greener practices," Dr. Joachim explained. "By embracing innovative technology, Sabah aims to tackle waste management challenges more effectively and support a cleaner, more sustainable environment for its people."
The review of waste management regulations marks a significant step toward sustainable development, ensuring that Sabah’s policies are aligned with modern environmental standards and local community needs.
