Sabah Tourism Board Celebrates Media Partnerships at Media Night

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Tourism Board hosted its annual Media Night on April 11, bringing together key members of the press to express gratitude for their pivotal role in promoting the region’s thriving tourism industry.
Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Christina Liew in her welcoming remarks thanked the Media for their participation. "It gives me great pleasure to be here this evening. Thank you for taking the time to join us," she said.
The event focused on appreciation for the media's invaluable partnership in elevating Sabah's tourism profile. The spokesperson highlighted the importance of the media's unwavering support through news coverage, feature stories, interviews, and visuals, which have successfully engaged local, national, and even international audiences in meaningful ways.
"From showcasing our eco-tourism assets and rich cultural heritage to highlighting our local communities, creative talents, and tourism initiatives, your contributions have been instrumental in positioning Sabah as one of Malaysia’s premier travel destinations," she noted.
As the Sabah Tourism Board looks to strengthen and diversify its tourism offerings, the spokesperson expressed excitement about deepening collaborations with the media. "Together, we can continue to shine a spotlight on Sabah’s beauty, resilience, and hospitality," she affirmed.
In closing, she reiterated her thanks for the dedication, creativity, and support of the media. Attendees were encouraged to enjoy the evening's programme and to continue this important journey together in promoting the wonders of Sabah.
Her speech was read by the Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Joniston Bangkuai who is also the Sabah Tourism Board chairman. Also present were Mary Malangking Deputy Permanent Secretary I and Alesia Sion Deputy Permanent Secretary II as well as Julinus Jeffery Jimit STB CEO.
