KOTA KINABALU: The state government is committed to diligently striving to advance the development of Sabah for the betterment and welfare of its people, stated Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor.
He expressed confidence that, under the leadership of the Head of State Tun Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr) Musa Aman, the 11th Governor of Sabah, the state will continue to experience enduring peace, success, and prosperity.
"I urge all leaders and the people in this state to cooperate, work hand in hand, and unite towards driving the development of our beloved state of Sabah.
"Indeed, the Governor is a shield for all the people, a symbol of the dignity of the state, and a unifying force for the harmony of a diverse society of various races, religions, and cultures.
"Therefore, this highly revered institution of the Governor will always be upheld as the core of the unity of the people and a symbol of the sovereignty of the land of Sabah," he said during the Oath-Taking Ceremony of His Excellency, the 11th Governor of Sabah, at the Sri Kinabalu Palace here on Wednesday.
Hajiji also shared various initiatives and successes achieved by the state government over the past four years, particularly efforts to revive the state economy and improve the welfare of the people through the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan (SMJ).
"Through the SMJ development plan, the state government has succeeded in increasing the value of investments while offering job opportunities to local youth. State revenue has also increased, thanks to good financial governance, and we have managed to collect nearly RM7 billion in revenue in 2024.
"We will maintain this momentum to achieve even better performance. This encouraging achievement is the result of hard work and high commitment from the government leadership alongside public servants as the driving force of the government machinery.
"On another note, the cooperation and strong synergy between the public and private sectors over the past few years have resulted in positive impacts on the state's economic growth. This encouraging development aligns with the direction launched nearly four years ago," he said.
Hajiji stated that the progress and welfare of the people remain the main agenda of the government, thus various forms of programs, initiatives, and assistance are provided to target groups, especially the poor and extremely poor.
In addition, he mentioned that students and those intending to further their studies at institutions of higher learning are also not neglected, as the government provides funding for educational expenses for qualified individuals through human capital development programs.
"The government will also ensure the sustainability of natural treasures, continuously preserve the cultural values and traditions of all communities, and maintain the values of unity and harmony that have been cultivated for generations. Public safety and order will continue to be prioritized to ensure the welfare of the people," he said.
Hajiji also extended his highest congratulations and pledged unwavering loyalty to Tun Musa Aman, as the 11th Governor of Sabah.
"May Tun and Toh Puan Datin Seri Panglima Datuk Faridah Tusin, along with their beloved family members, always be under the protection and blessings of Allah SWT, with lasting health and well-being," he said.
