Sabah Women's Football Team - Our Heroes

What a night and what a win for Sabah Women's football team. They won it in style by beating a much higher ranked team from Uzbekistan , following the stalemate draw in the first match against a team from Nepal.

Next will be the group stage for our Sabah women's football after qualifying and becoming the 1st women's team from Malaysia to ever qualify for the group stage of the prestigious Asian Champions League competition.

Being there and witnessing how the state women team fought for every ball, tackled for every 50-50 situation and jostled galantly against physically bigger players from Uzbekistan, they really showed the Sabah spirit of never say die. Though we may seem so polite and nice in our appearances, we pack a killer punch and showed that we may carry a perceived disadvantage by being of asian origin nevertheless we can fight tooth and nails with the best there is.

That is the Sabahan Spirit, and Malaysia as a whole. And bagging a win on 31st August being the Hari Merdeka for Malaysia bring so much more meaning to it.

The merdeka spirit somehow galvanised the whole Sabah squad of different state and nationality, some from other states and a few players from outside the nation, to become heroes in their own way and the talk of the more than three thousand fans who came and watched that historic match last night.

They are our Sabah Heroes. And Sabahans are proud of our women's football team. Now enjoy your moment and prepare well for your Group Stage matches. We will be with you all the way. The Likas Roar will resonate and the Negaraku and Sabah Tanah Air will be our fight song before and after every match.
