Sawit Kinabalu Group pays RM11.16 million dividend to Sabah govt

KOTA KINABALU: State government received its third interim dividend payment for 2022 from Sawit Kinabalu Group, a state-owned company that operates in the palm oil industry.


The payment, which amounted to RM11.16 million, was made on Thursday at a ceremony held at the Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa in Kota Kinabalu.


The Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who also serves as the chairman of Sawit Kinabalu Group, witnessed the presentation of the mock cheque by Sawit Kinabalu managing director Datuk Bacho Jansie to state secretary Datuk Seri Sr Safar Untong.


With this payment, Sawit Kinabalu Group has paid a total of RM27.9 million to the state government for the year 2022.


Hajiji expressed his appreciation and commendation to Sawit Kinabalu Group for being one of the best-performing state-owned enterprises and for its contribution to Sabah’s socio-economic development. He said the group’s performance was remarkable, especially in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic that has affected many sectors.


The ceremony was held in conjunction with Sawit Kinabalu Group’s breaking of fast event.


Earlier in the day, Hajiji also chaired Sawit Kinabalu Group’s board meeting. He also presented donations from Sawit Kinabalu Group to several charitable organisations, including the Sabah Little People Association, Syukhbah Kebajikan & Kaunseling Masjid Jamek Assalam Kampung Benoni, Papar and Kadazan Dusun Murut Muslim Malaysia Society.
