KOTA BELUD: Three families now have a safe and comfortable home thanks to the generous provision of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) housing project. The presentation of the house key replicas was made by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor, accompanied by Kadamaian State Assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick, during the MADANI KUSKOP Christmas Open House held at Kadamaian Square yesterday.
Kelarin Dam from Kg Tambulion Ulu, one of the recipients, expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying “This means the world to our family. We have worked hard to build our own home, but my income has not been enough. Previously, we lived with my parents, so having our own house is a tremendous blessing for all six of us, especially with our four children."
He added, “We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our Village Development and Security Committee chairman, as well as Datuk Ewon Benedick, the Kadamaian State Assemblyman, and the State Government for their invaluable support in helping us secure a home for our family.”
Yanisa Ligag from Kg. Piasau expressed her heartfelt gratitude for her new home, describing it as a comfortable and joyful space for herself, her children, and her five grandchildren.
For many years, she lived with from one relative to the other, relying on their support, especially during times of illness.
"I had been applying for a house for a long time, holding onto the hope that I would finally receive approval. Unfortunately, my earlier applications were unsuccessful," she reflected.
"This year, however, I received the wonderful news that my application had been approved, and I was asked to choose a location for my new home. I eagerly visited potential sites and took photographs."
Yanisa continued, "I cannot express how grateful I am; my prayers have truly been answered. As a widow, having a home of my own has been my ultimate dream, and now it has come true."
The other recipient Soinim Maradan from Kg Purak Ogis was rather shy to share her thoughts but thanked the State Assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick for all his assistance to his constituency.
The SMJ Housing Project is an initiative in the State Government aimed at addressing housing needs, particularly for low-income families. The project is part of the state's broader strategy to promote development and improve the standard of living for its residents.
