KOTA KINABALU: As of 5 PM on February 12, the Kinabatangan area remains grappling with significant flooding that has forced the establishment of two temporary evacuation centres. These centres have been operational since February 4, providing much-needed shelter and support for the affected residents.
The Temporary evacuation centres are Sekolah Agama Pekan Bukit Garam and SK Sukau.
Currently, they are accommodating 253 victims from 65 families, offering a safe haven amid the challenging conditions caused by the ongoing floodwaters.
Meanwhile in Beaufort, there is one temporary evacuation centre opened sheltering 33 victims from 10 families. The centre was opened on February 9 when floods occurred and victims had to be evacuated to a safer site.
The numbers of victims in temporary evacuation centres are expected to decrease as the floods gradually subside.
