30 December 2024

KOTA KINABALU: The state government expressed its gratitude to Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, who will conclude his service as the Governor of Sabah on January 1, 2025.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor stated that after 14 years, Tun Juhar is the longest-serving Governor and has made immense contributions to Sabah.

"His Excellency Tun has dedicated incomparable service, witnessing various incidents and developments involving the diversity and dynamics of politics, economics, security, health, education, religion, and more.

"These developments occurred while he held the position of the 10th Governor, placing him in a favourable position as an experienced and magnanimous leader," he said at a state banquet to honour His Excellency the Governor at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here this evening.

He mentioned that among the events recorded in Sabah's history are the foreign intrusion incident in Tanduo in 2013 and the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which began in late 2019 and lasted until early 2022.

"Both incidents placed the people of Sabah in a challenging situation, resulting in many lost lives.

"Alhamdulillah, under the leadership of His Excellency Tun, we have successfully overcome these challenges," he said.

"The people of Sabah, regardless of race, culture, religion, and beliefs, have always shown their love and concern for His Excellency Tun and his wife, the Honourable Toh Puan Norlidah Tan Sri R M Jasni, in all the public programs they have attended," he added.

Hajiji stated that the leadership of the state government and the people of Sabah extend their deepest gratitude to Tun Juhar for his outstanding leadership over 14 years of governance and wish him and Toh Puan Norlidah all the best in their future endeavours.
