TYT tour Sandakan for two days

SANDAKAN: The Head of State, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr.) Musa  Aman, commenced his two-day official visit to Sandakan on Sunday.

His arrival at Sandakan Airport was warmly welcomed by nearly 2,000 residents from the Sandakan district.

The reception for Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Musa continued with a luncheon held in his honour at Dewan Sri Libaran, attended by over 6,000 individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds to celebrate his arrival.

Among those present at both events were the Minister of Community Development and People’s Well-being, Datuk James Ratib; members of the State Legislative Assembly; the President of the Sandakan Municipal Council, Mr. Walter Kenson; as well as various community leaders and heads of state and federal government departments.

On Sunday evening, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun will host a formal dinner at his residence in Sungai Kayu.

Several ministers, assistant ministers, elected representatives, and community leaders are expected to attend the event.

Tomorrow, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Musa is scheduled to attend a briefing on the long-delayed Islamic Centre Project in Sungai Kayu. Launched seven years ago, the project has encountered delays for reasons that remain unclear.

Once completed, the Islamic Centre is anticipated to become a significant landmark in Sandakan, bringing numerous benefits to the local community and beyond.

Given its potential religious, economic, social, and tourism impact, the completion of the Islamic Centre is highly awaited. Authorities and stakeholders are expected to discuss measures to address the delays and expedite the project's progress.
