UPKO Limbahau Christmas Open House and New Year celebrations lauded

PENAMPANG: Limbahau United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Christmas Open House and New Year Celebration was held at Marcellus Tambud’s residence at Kg Punson Kinarut.
Marcellus who is the UPKO Vice chief for Papar said he was very pleased with the event as for him, Christmas is a universal celebration that transcends individual faiths.
“In the context of Malaysia, it represents not just a holiday for one religion, but a powerful symbol of unity and togetherness among all. We can observe this harmony as diverse ethnic groups come together to celebrate, regardless of their religious or cultural backgrounds.”
“This beautiful tradition of inclusivity fosters strong relationships and mutual understanding, showcasing the unique spirit of Sabah. It is heartening to witness individuals from various faiths joining in the festivities, reinforcing our shared values and connections,” he stated.
“I hope that the spirit of togetherness is celebrated not only during Christmas but also during other festivals such as Aidil Adha, Chinese New Year, the Harvest Festival, and beyond. Let us cultivate this spirit of unity for the benefit of everyone in our community.”
Datuk Stephen Sampil, the Deputy President of the Momogun National Congress (MNC) said “I would like to extend my warmest wishes for a Happy New Year 2025 to everyone. I believe that organising celebrations like these is not only commendable but also greatly enhances community development, particularly when spearheaded by political parties.”
“These parties play a crucial role in uniting various ethnic groups and communities, creating opportunities for individuals to connect, strengthen relationships, and foster a spirit of peace and harmony among residents.”

The crowds that thronged to Marcellus place numbered in the hundreds, comprising residents from in and around the area as well as UPKO Stalwarts and top leaders. Besides the President Datuk Ewon Benedick, Honorary President Datuk Madius Tangau, SME Corp Chairman Tan Sri Bernard Dompok and leaders from several divisions were also present.
